Dr. Sharon Brangman

Dr. Sharon A. Brangman is a SUNY Distinguished Service Professor and was recently named the Inaugural Chair of the Department of Geriatrics at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. Prior to her current professional appointment, Dr. Brangman had been the Division Chief of Geriatrics for 20 years.

 

The fearless leader of the Iota Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, is a graduate of Syracuse University and was on the Charter line of Iota Upsilon at Syracuse University in May of 1975. She went on to earn her medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University, and completed internship, residency, and geriatric fellowship programs at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. She is board certified in internal medicine, geriatric medicine, and hospice & palliative medicine.

 

Today, Dr. Brangman also serves as the fellowship director for geriatric medicine. She is director of the Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease, Medical Director of the Transitional Care Unit on the Upstate Community Campus, and Medical Director of Greenpoint/The Hearth Senior Living Communities in Syracuse.

Greetings from the Iota Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®  Our chapter was chartered in November 1972 and recently celebrated 50 amazing years of service to our community and to all mankind.

 

Iota Nu Omega consists of a dynamic group of college educated women who represent various professions, backgrounds, and ages. Each of us shares our skills to strengthen the community we serve.  We are especially proud to have two of our original charter members as active members of our chapter.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. was founded in 1908 and is the oldest sorority established by African American women in the country. Under the leadership of our 31st International President and CEO, Ms. Danette Anthony Reed, we are working hard to implement our program initiatives by empowering our families, strengthening our sisterhood, enhancing our environment, and building our economic wealth. We uplift our local community and advocate for social justice.
